About Felt Emotions

A Space That Feels
Safe to Inhabit

Felt Emotions is a mental health practice dedicated to creating spaces where individuals, organisations, and communities can engage with mental health in meaningful, grounded ways. We believe that emotional well-being is not peripheral — it is central to how people work, relate, and grow.

"Mental health is not a luxury or a side concern. It is foundational to how we show up at work, how we lead, and how we sustain ourselves over time."

Our corporate offering brings this philosophy into organisational life — providing structured, confidential, and professionally led support that addresses the full spectrum of challenges employees face, from everyday stress to deeper psychological distress.

The Evidence

Why Mental Health at Work
Cannot Wait

Across individual studies, systematic reviews, and sector-specific research, there is strong and consistent evidence that mental health plays a central role in employee performance and overall workplace functioning. This is not a soft benefit — it is a business-critical issue.

Lu et al. (2022)  ·  Employee Mental Health & Job Performance

Better mental health is associated with higher job performance, largely because it improves work engagement and innovative behaviour. Organisational support can meaningfully strengthen this relationship.

LaMontagne et al. (2024)  ·  Mental Health & Well-being at Work

Poor mental health is consistently linked to lower productivity, higher turnover, poorer safety outcomes, and weaker team dynamics. Workplace culture, leadership, and psychological safety play a key mediating role.

World Health Organization  ·  Workplace Mental Health

Poor mental health contributes significantly to absenteeism, presenteeism, and workplace accidents. Supportive environments improve morale, retention, and productivity — with returns routinely underestimated by management.

Sector-Specific Research  ·  High-Demand Environments

In high-demand or high-risk roles, mental health issues have even stronger consequences — increased errors, burnout, fatigue, and reduced performance. Job demands can amplify the effects of poor mental health significantly.

What Poor Mental Health Costs Organisations

  • Reduced job performance, engagement, and capacity for innovation
  • Increased absenteeism and presenteeism
  • Higher staff turnover and significant recruitment costs
  • Greater risk of workplace accidents, errors, and safety incidents
  • Weakened team dynamics, trust, and collaboration
  • Burnout and fatigue — compounded in high-pressure roles
  • Deteriorating organisational culture and morale
  • Economic strain consistently underestimated by leadership
"Mental health is not just an individual concern. It is a multi-level workplace factor that influences performance through engagement, is shaped by organisational conditions, and has measurable impacts on both people and organisational effectiveness."
